Event Description:

Intellectual property in the workplace is essentially the difference between what belongs to an employee personally and what legally belongs to the company—especially when it comes to IT systems and cybersecurity. In simple terms, if someone creates, accesses, or works with files, designs, or data as part of their job, that information is the company’s property, not the individual’s. This becomes a major issue when an employee downloads or removes proprietary information without permission. 

Just like on a construction site where tools, blueprints, and materials belong to the company—not the worker—digital tools and documents follow the same rules. Taking company data is treated the same as walking off a job site with equipment. It’s not only against company policy, it can also lead to serious legal consequences, including fines, lawsuits, and even criminal charges. 

Rob Drake, President of Synchronize IT Solutions, will be presenting on how businesses can protect themselves, set clear expectations, and build a strong cybersecurity foundation that keeps both employees and companies safe.

Business Over Breakfast provides ABC of Georgia members on the business side of construction the opportunity to come together monthly to discuss ideas of common interest.
